If you’ve never thought of bagging groceries as a contemporary American art form, or a competitive sport, here’s a chance to change your mind.

Rialto Cinemas Lakeside in Santa Rosa will screen “Ready, Set, Bag!” — an  award-winning documentary about the National Grocery Bagging Competition in Las Vegas — is screening at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The screening is a fund-raiser for the Redwood Empire Food Bank,  with money from every ticket sold going to support feeding the hungry in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County , said Oren Jacob, executive producer of  “Ready, Set, Bag!”

The documentary was directed by Alex D. da Silva and Justine Jacob. The Bay Area-based filmmakers plan a question-and-answer session with the audience after the screening.

The film won the Award of Excellence at IndieFest last year, and the Big Kahuna Award of Excellence in Filmmaking at this year’s Honolulu International Film Festival.

The program also includes “Leonardo,” a new, hand-drawn animated short from Academy Award nominee Jim Capobianco.
