Tom, a young, handsome, successful executive, falls for Helen, a bright, funny, sexy young woman, who happens to be plus-sized.

That’s the premise of “Fat Pig,” Neil LaBute’s biting romantic comedy, opening next week for a month-long run at the Sonoma County Repertory Theater.

“It is a wonderfully written play about a subject that is, and has been, at the forefront of American society: our ideals of what is attractive, and how we look at heavyset people, especially women,” said Scott Phillips, the company’s artistic director.

The play opens Wednesday, Sept. 22, and runs through Oct. 24 at the theater, 104 N. Main St., Sebastopol.

Tickets: $10-$25. Information:  (707) 823-0177, the-rep.com.
