"French Cancan"

The Sonoma Film Insitute, which has been showing rare foreign, classic and independent films at Sonoma State University since 1973, plans a special program for Francophiles this weekend:

A live concert of French cafe music by Due Zighi Baci (Two Gypsy Kisses), a duo featuring tenor Michael Van Why and accordionist Sheri Mignano, at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, in Warren Auditorium, Ives Hall, on the SSU campus, 1801 E. Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park.

The concert will be followed by a screening of director Jean Renoir’s “French Cancan,” 1955, in French with English subtitles, with the film only repeating at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17.

Admission: $6, general admission; $5, students with ID, seniors, Sonoma State University faculty and staff; $4, SFI members, children under 12; free, SSU students with ID.
