The Brothers Comatose

Opening bands sometimes get overlooked, but the act that’s opening the Carolina Chocolate Drops show Sunday, Oct. 3, at Petaluma’s Mystic Theatre is worth a special mention. You may know some of the musicians.

The Brothers Comatose is an Americana, bluegrass and roots music quintet that includes four Sonoma County natives. Singer and guitarist Ben Morrison, and his brother Alex, on vocals and banjo, are from Petaluma, and so is mandolin player Joe Pacini. Bassist Gio Benedetti, formerly of Toast Machine, is from Sonoma. Fiddler Phiilip Brezina is from Pennsylvania.

After playing bars and festivals all over the Bay Area and the Northwest, the Brothers Comatose are coming back to Petaluma to open the show at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $18 in advance, or $20 the day of the show. Address: 23 Petaluma Blvd. N., Petaluma. Information: (707) 765-2121, www.mystictheatre.com, showticketweb.com.
