Kelly Prescott as Emmylou Harris

Petaluma’s Mystic Theatre presents “Grievous Angel: The Legend of Gram Parsons,” writer-producer Michael Bate’s theatrical concert starring Anders Drerup as Parsons and Kelly Prescott as Emmylou Harris, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16.

Bate interviewed Gram Parsons in a Boston hotel in March 1973. It turned out to be his Parsons’ last recorded conversation. He died six months later.

“Gram Parsons was 26 when he died, overdosing on morphine and tequila, but he was already one of the most influential musicians in the history of rock and roll. His death, and the bizarre theft of his body by his road manager and its subsequent burning in the desert near Joshua Tree turned Parsons’ life and music into legends,” Bate said.

Parsons is often credited with the fusion of country and rock music, through his work with The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers. He also mentored Emmylou Harris.

Admission: $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

Address:  23 Petaluma Blvd. N., Petaluma.
