Karl Denson

It’s a big cosmos, but Petaluma will be at the center of it on Friday, Feb. 11, when Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe plays the Mystic Theatre.

Tiny Universe features Denson on vocals, saxophone and flute, Brian Jordan on guitar, Chris Littlefield on trumpet, John Staten on drums, Chris Stillwell on bass and David Veith on keyboards.

Denson  first came to prominence as a member of Lenny Kravitz’ band, debuting on Kravitz’ first release, ‘Let Love Rule,’ and continuing for the next five years. While developing a following overseas, Denson joined Fred Wesley’s band, touring and recording with him.

In 1993, Denson joined DJ Greyboy in creating Greyboy Records and released the acid jazz album,”Freesytlin’.” Out of that collaboration, Denson formed The Greyboy Allstars, which became world-renowned as a groove band.
