Singer, songwriter activist and recording artist Si Kahn — newly named writer-in-residence by Sonoma County’s Heritage Music Theatre — will appear at a fund-raiser for the theater company this weekend.

The event will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Main Stage West (formerly the site of the Sonoma County Repertory Theater),  104 N. Main St., Sebastopol.

“This will not be a concert, but a chance for those who are there to talk with me in a quiet, intimate setting,” Kahn’s written announcement  said.

“I’ll of course be doing some singing, but they’ll be songs no one has heard yet, taken from two of my musicals that HMT will be producing over the next two years, and from my forthcoming CD, ‘Bristol Bay,'” Kahn continued.

“I’ll also be reading from my new musical “Immigrant,” which stars six-time Grammy finalist John McCutcheon as labor agitator, songwriter and martyr Joe Hill.  The show will have its world premiere at Heritage Music Theatre on Oct. 8 and 9,” Kahn concluded.

Suggested contribution: $100, which includes an autographed copy of Kahn’s latest CD, “Courage.”
