Two murals by Sebastopol painter Dave Gordon will be installed this summer in the Visitors Center on Independence Mall in Philadelphia.

“This site is where the Constitution was drafted and the location of the Liberty Bell,” Gordon said.

A Sebastopol resident for the past 20 years, Gordon has been working on this project for the past year in a warehouse studio off Sebastopol Road.

This project was commissioned by the Mural Arts Program in Philadelphia and the Visitors Center on Independence Mall. The design had to be approved by the community, the National Park Service and an artist peer review panel.

During his tenure in Sonoma County, Gordon has produced work that is still visible to the public every day.

He painted the interior mural above children’s section in the Barnes and Noble book store on Fourth Street in downtown Santa Rosa, and the train on the side of the Whistlestop antique shop in Railroad Square.
