When Shana Morrison is the opening act, you have to figure the main attraction is really something special.
Morrison, Van’s daughter and a star in her own right, gets second billing July 21 at the Mystic Theatre — to Liam Ó Maonlaí of Ireland.
Co-founder of the Irish bands the Complex and Hothouse Flowers (later renamed My Bloody Valentine), Ó Maonlaí began his career as a street musician and established himself as a master of the bodhrán, or Irish drum.
In 2005, he released a solo album titled “Rian,” a collection of tunes and songs in Gaelic.
The Mystic Theatre is at 23 Petaluma Blvd. N., Petaluma. The show starts at 8 p.m. and the doors open at 7.
Admission: $16. Information: 765-2121, mystictheatre.com.
