To paraphrase Duke Ellington, it don’t mean thing if it ain’t got strings.

That seems to the the spirit behind the Just Strings Music Festival, running noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13-14, at the Hoffman Ranch Picnic Grounds across from Geyser Peak Winery in Geyserville.

The event features top stringed instrument players in a variety styles. Headliners include the David Grisman Quintet Plus, Charles Neville and Youssoupha Sidibe and the Mystic Rhythms, and Jim Weider (former backup musician for The Band).

Food, wine, microbrew beer and a farmers market will be available on site. Seating is picnic-style so bring a blanket.

Price: $60 per day.
