Santa Rosa’s beloved annual Great Handcar Regatta has apparently ended after four great years, at least in its original form, because the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit district expects to close the tracks at Railroad Square for new construction next year.

But the  Regatta Mural, created in 2009 by artist Mary Vaughan and three apprentice artists from the City of Santa Rosa’s Artstart program, is still with us.

The mural is for sale, and currently on display at Atlas Coffee Company, 300 S. A St., Santa Rosa, said Sara Gray, Artstart marketing and development director.

The mural is 7.5 feet tall at its highest point, and 30 feet long.
