Anyone who has ever dreamed of wearing a really flashy dress — and we do mean anyone — ought to check out the costume inventory liquidation sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26-27, at the 6th Street Playhouse, 52 W. Sixth St., Santa Rosa.

“There are fanstasy pieces, vintage clothing for men and women, and very large dresses for men,” said Pat Fitzgerald, costume director at the Playhouse. “We seem to have done a lot of drag shows.”

Indeed, recent seasons have included such cross-dressing comedies as “La Cage Au Folles” and “The Mystery of Irma Vep.” And “Dirty Blonde,” a play about Mae West, had some nice clothes in it, too.

“I am trying to liquidate half of our costume inventory,” Fitzgerald said. “The space is needed.”

So, while prices for the showy costumes we’ve just mentioned might run as high as $50, there also will be items priced as low as $5. Fitzgerald estimates there are almost 1,000 items.

Once you’re properly costumed, you can star in your own show.
