The Copperfield’s Books “Authors in the Village Court” series in Montgomery Village will host Carlos Ruiz Zafón, author of “The Shadow of the Wind,” at 7 p.m. Friday, July 13.

Zafón, a Spanish novelist who has lived in Los Angeles since 1993, will talk about his new book, “The Prisoner of Heaven,” with 250 readers in the courtyard in front of  the Copperfield’s store.

Set in Barcelona, the new book tells a dark and Gothic story that  pits the heroes of “The Shadow the Wind,” and the followup novel, “The Angel’s Game,” against a nemesis that threatens to destroy them.

Admission is free.

At  4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, the series will present singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin, talking about her new book of memoirs, “Diamond in the Rough,” and performing in a mini-concert.
