When the L.A. quintet Tes Elations plays Saturday, Aug 4, at Santa Rosa’s Arlene Francis Center, it’ll be a homecoming for one of its players.

Cellist, bassist and composer Chris Votek, 25,  grew up in Sonoma County.

He  graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 2004, and studied a wide range of musical styles from 2005 to 2008 at the California Institute of the Arts. He has been living and working in Los Angeles for the past seven years.

Votek recently returned from a European tour with Los Angeles singer and songwriter Julia Holter. He also plays in ensembles around L.A., including rock bands, jazz groups and an Arabic orchestra.

Girls in Suede headlines this weekend’s show in Santa Rosa, which also features Kinship and Giggleparty.
