Samantha Vigil

Samantha Vigil of Sebastopol, who has been singing since she was three years old, is taking her music, and her dreams, to the next level.

She’s going to Los Angeles to audition Feb. 2-3 for the NBC talent contest series “The Voice.”

“I want to make music. It doesn’t matter to me that much about fame and all that. I want to make music for people, and this is a step towards that,” said Vigil, 22, a 2008 graduate of Analy High School.

Vigil won a local singing contest, sponsored by Farm Trails and KZST Radio, at the Apple Blosssom Festival in Sebastopol.

“She was so good, that after the contest, Wonder Bread 5 asked her to stay on stage and sing with them,” said Program Director Brent Farris, who served as emcee for the event.

Vigil will appear from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at “Samantha’s Send-Off Party,” at the Casa del Mar Restaurant, 3660 Stony Point Road, Santa Rosa.

Vigil has raised about $480 of the $600 need for the trip, said her mother, Christine Vigil.
