Condolences and tributes have been streaming from the friends and fans of Celtic harpist and master harp maker Chris Caswell since his death Monday, Jan. 21.
Caswell, 60, a popular presence in the Russian River area for 15 years, starting in the late ’70s, died of cancer at his Oakland home.

The Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, at 2020 Addison St. in Berkeley, will be the site for “A Night for Chris,” a celebration of Caswell’s life, at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4.
Performers will include Danny Carnahan, Caswell’s partner in the Caswell Carnahan duo from 1978 to 1983.
Other musicians scheduled to perform include Golden Bough, Oak Ash & Thorn, Panacea, Kevin Carr and Steve Baughman, Philip Gelb, Celia Ramsay, Patrice Haan, Marla Fibish, Susan Spurlock and Peter Heelan .
Needless to say, much of the music will have a Celtic lilt to it.
Tickets: $24.50 advance; $26.50 at door. The show is a benefit to help cover the Caswell family’s medical costs.
