Russell Lilie

The four-day sold-out run of  star choreographer Shen Wei’s dance piece “Undivided Divided” ended Sunday at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

The dancers included former Santa Rosan Russell Stuart Lilie, 23, who also danced in the Hong Kong and Beijing performances of “Undivided Divided.”

The piece features dancers performing on 16 canvas squares, using their bodies to paint pictures on the canvases.

Lilie, born in Boynton Beach, Fla., participated in Santa Rosa High School’s ArtQuest program before going on to the Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, Calif. He graduated from the New York University Tisch School of Fine Arts.

Shen Wei is best-known as the lead choreographer for the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics.
