The life and memory of the late violinist Mardell Mardeau will be celebrated Sunday, April 21. The event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Rio Nido Roadhouse in Rio Nido.

“Mardell had quite a following as a member of the extremely popular North Bay Area group Collins and Levine,” said Sonoma County musician Frank Hayhurst.

Mardeau, 58, of St. Helena, died Jan. 15 after receiving a head injury while camping, said Hank Levine of Collins and Levine.

Levine and singer Doc Collins founded the band in 1973, and have been playing in Sonoma County since 1976. , Mardell played with the longtime local band Collins and Levine for the past 12 years, Levine said.

Performers at the celebration will include Levine and  Hayhurst, as well Allegra Broughton and Sam Page, better-known as the duo Solid Air.
