Sonoma County’s contemporary dance fans have two chances to see local performances by the internationally recognized Axis Dance Company of Oakland.
Axis, known for choreography that integrates dancers both with and without physical disabilities, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the Glaser Center, 547 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa.
The performance will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Axis dancers, and a workshop class with dancer Bernadette Alverio of the Studio Gray dance studio in Santa Rosa.
The performance is presented by the Sonoma county Museum in Santa Rosa, in conjunction with its current art exhibit, “Margins to Mainstream: Contemporary Artists with Disabilities,” continuing through Sept. 15.
Admission: $25. Special discount tickets available Monday, Aug. 12, only for $10.

The Axis Dance Company returns next month for a performance at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Person Theater on the Sonoma State University campus, 1801 E. Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park.
