The Montgomery Village shopping center in Santa Rosa will open two free, live outdoor concert series this month, both running until early October in the center’s Village Court area.

And before the two series start, the center opens the season May 18 with a “Veterans Appreciation Day,” 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with live music by the Poyntlyss Sistars.

Both music series feature bands that have built a following at nightclubs and concerts throughout Northern California.

The Bay Area pop and soul revue Pride & Joy opens the “Concert Under the Stars” series from 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 22

The series will continue most Thursdays, closing Oct. 9 with the popular tribute band, the Unauthorized Rolling Stones.

Other highlights of the Thursday “Concert Under the Stars” series include the dance and party band Wonderbread 5 on July 24, and a return engagement by Pride and Joy on Aug. 7.

The center will launch its weekend afternoon “Rockin’ Concerts” series with a show by Wonderbread 5 from noon to 3 p.m. May 24.

These performances will run through Oct. 11, mostly on Saturdays, but there also will be Sunday shows by the Unauthorized Rolling Stones on May 25 and Sh-Boom on June 22, and a Friday show by the Beatles tribute band, Sun Kings, on July 4.

Saturday shows include Tainted Love, playing the hits of the 1980s, on Aug. 2, and Petty Theft, a popular North Bay tribute band saluting Tom Petty, on Sept. 13.

Admission is free, but beverage sales benefit local nonprofits, and donations are encouraged.

Nonprofit beneficiaries range from Montgomery High School’s Project Grad and Social Advocates for Youth to Sonoma County Search and Rescue and Memorial Hospice.
