Mary Gannon Graham returns as ‘Shirley Valentine’ in Sebastopol

Mary Gannon Graham’s reprise of the one-woman show, “Shirley Valentine,” about a middle-aged English housewife searching for freedom, gets another turn onstage this month. Main Stage West, 104 N. ‘Shirley Valentine’ opens May 27 at Cinnabar

Director John Shillington is known locally for staging big, flashy productions like his recent run of “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Santa Rosa Junior College. But “Shirley Valentine” is something different. It’s a one-woman show starring longtime local favorite Mary Gannon Graham as a British middle-aged, working-class housewife who dreams of freedom. ‘Shirley Valentine’ finds a home in Petaluma

Last week, the financially struggling Sonoma County Repertory Theater announced that it would close its Sebastopol theater after its final performance of “Cyrano” on Feb. 20. That means, of course, that the half-dozen shows scheduled there for the rest of the year are left without a home. Except for one.
