Jaimal Yogis

Jaimal Yogis is an author and journalist who believes in facing his fears.

So it’s no surprise he plans a 17-mile run, from Copperfield’s Books in Petaluma to the Copperfield’s in Sebastopol, where he will speak at at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24. He invites others to run along with him.

“This run makes me nervous, because it’s a long distance, but it’s in overcoming these controlled physical fears that can help us better manage the unexpected stress of daily life,” said Yogis, 33, of San Francisco.

When he gets to Sebastopol, the author will talk about his new book, “The Fear Project,” published in hardcover by Rodale Books at $24.99.

“In the book, I interview some of the world’s top neuroscientists and elite athletes and apply their cutting-edge research knowledge to my own adventures with fear: diving with great white sharks, surfing Mavericks, getting married, and becoming a dad (perhaps the scariest of all),” Yogis said.

The Petaluma Copperfields is at 140 Kentucky St. (762-0563) and the Sebastopol store is at 138 N. Main St. (823-2618.)
