Miles Davis

“Miles Davis: The Art Of Cool,” an exhibit of more than 35 pieces of original artwork by the famed jazz trumpeter, opens Saturday, June 8, and runs through July 28 at the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville.

The exhibition was inspired by “Miles Davis: The Collected Artwork,” a new book by Scott Gutterman with Miles Davis, with a foreword by Quincy Jones, scheduled for release on October 10. Davis died in 1991.

There will be a reception at the museum at 5 p.m. today (Friday, June 7.) Tickets cost $15 for museum members and $30 for others, including and include hors d’oeuvres, wine and live jazz by Graham Bruce. Reservations are required.

Regular museum admission: $2.50-$10. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

On, July 27, a “Miles Davis Tribute Concert,” featuring Jimmy Cobb, will be presented at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater in Yountville.
