Charlie Musselwhite

Blues harmonica star Charlie Musselwhite of Geyserville teamed up this week with the Healdsburg Jazz Festival to launch an online fundraising campaign for next year’s event.

Posted on the fundraising site Indiegogo, the Healdsburg Jazz Fall Fundraiser seeks donations from $10 to $2,500.

“We need to continue raising money year-round to keep our organization healthy,” said Jessica Felix, the festival’s artistic director, on the Indiegogo web page for the campaign. The festival has set a goal of $20,000.

Incentives offered to donors include autographed CDs by Musselwhite and jazz saxophonist Joshua Redman, both scheduled to perform at the 2014 Healdsburg Jazz Festival.

Musselwhite will participate a two-day celebration of blues and related music that will open the festival.

“You might know that jazz evolved from blues, so it’s only fitting to have some blues at the jazz festival,” Musselwhite said on the Indiegogo project page.
