Anybody who’s seen much theater around Sonoma County has probably encountered a big man with a big, deep singing voice. You may have seen him in “Evita” or “Miss Saigon” with the Raven Players in Healdsburg.

His name is Steve Kirkbride and he’s usually a jolly presence wherever he goes, but these days he’s got something serious on his mind.

His 14-month-old granddaughter, Morgan, is under treatment at University of California at San Francisco Medical Center for leukemia.

Friends of the family plan a fund-raiser to help with medical costs from 2 to  6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12,  at Kodiak Jack’s, 256 Petaluma Blvd., Petaluma. Admission costs $15 and activities include a pasta feed, silent auction, karaoke, face painting for the kids, and a raffle.

To find out more, contact Kirkbride at sparkyecv@comcast.net, 322-7957.
