David Wilcox

His 16th and newest CD is titled “Open Hand,”  and that seems to sum up David Wilcox’s approach to his music — honest and human.

He may not be a household name, but his combination of sensitive songwriting and expressive vocals and acoustic guitar work have made him an enduring critical success.

“Open Hand” was recorded in a week by Wilcox and three other musicians, without elaborate computerized enhancements. It is, in essence, simply a recorded performance.

Wilcox will perform live at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at the Mystic Theatre, 23 Petaluma Blvd. N., Petaluma.
