Sonoma finds it fitting and proper to stage a play by a great Irish playwright, two days before St. Patrick’s Day.

And so, Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” directed by Kate Kennedy and produced by Rose Murphy, will be presented at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15, at the Sebastiani Theatre, 476 First St. E., in downtown Sonoma.

The performance is a benefit for the Avalon Players, who are raising money for their annual summer production, a 30-year tradition in the Sonoma Valley.

Tickets cost $20 in advance and $23 at the door, available at the Sebastiani Theatre and Murphy’s Irish Pub inĀ  Sonoma. information: (707) 996-4359.
