Years ago, I was interviewing a popular Bay Area rock and blues singer who had begun to win notice for writing contemporary Christian music.

I kidded her about moving away from “the devil’s music,” as some churches dubbed rock ‘n’ roll.

“Why should he have all the good music?” she quipped.

Why indeed? The faithful can enjoy sweet sounds, too.

Brandon Heath of Nashville, twice honored as the Gospel Music Association’s Male Vocalist of the Year, brings his 40-city “Leaving Eden” tour to Santa Rosa for a concert  Friday, Dec. 2, at the Redwood  Covenant Church, 3175 Sebastopol Road.
