The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County invites the public to its future home at 1835 W. Steele Lane in Santa Rosa, next to the Charles M. Schulz Museum, for its “Groundbreaking Festival” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

Long in the planning and fund-raising stages, the Children’s Museum is scheduled to open in mid-2014.

In the meantime, the organization has been serving children and families since 2005 with its traveling “Museum-on-Go” program, which will be present at the festival with arts, crafts and children’s activities.

Suggested donation: $5.

Food trucks will selling their fare at the event.
