This time of year, there are always dozens of productions of “The Nutcracker.” In Santa Rosa, the Wells Fargo Center’s annual production of the ballet, produced by Darlene Walley, has built a loyal following, filling the 1,550-seat auditorium several times each holiday season.

It seems audiences never tire of the story of young Clara, who gets an enchanted nutcracker doll as a Christmas present and dreams a holiday fantasy, set to the music of Tchaikovsky.

This year, Clara will be played by English-born 12-year-old Miko Fogarty of Palo Alto, currently studying with the Diablo Ballet in Walnut Creek. She recently won the Gold Medal for her age group at the World Ballet Competition in Orlando, Fla.

She will also perform the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Grand Pas De Deux in the second act of the Wells Fargo Center version of “The Nutcracker”.

The production, directed and choreographed by Viktor Kabaniaev, also features 50 dancers  from Lines Ballet in San Francisco and the Diablo Ballet and Company C Contemporary Ballet, both of  Walnut Creek,  and a live orchestra conducted by Gabriel Sakakeeny.

Performance times are 2 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at Wells Fargo Center, 50 Mark West Springs Road, Santa Rosa. Admission: $25-$65. Information: 546-3600, wellsfargocenterarts.org, santarosanutcracker.com.
