“This week, we celebrate our 10th anniversary,” Ky Boyd, proprietor of Rialto Cinemas in Santa Rosa, confided a couple of days ago during an interview for a news story on the movies.

In fact, today is the day: Thursday, Jan. 14.

“Ten years of bringing the best films in the world to Sonoma County!” Boyd declared rather unabashedly.

The theater at 551 Summerfield Road in Santa Rosa predates the Rialto, of course, but it hardly seems a decade ago that Boyd took over.

It’s interesting to note that another Santa Rosa theater also opened in 2000 — the Roxy Stadium 14 downtown.
