In the current economy, even professional regional theater companies find it a challenge to produce the classic musicals,  which usually require big casts.

One place, though, that you can see these shows done live is at a school, where there is always a good-sized talent pool handy.

There has been some local buzz about “Chicago,” which opened last weekend at Santa Rosa High School and runs through this weekend.

The Santa Rosa High School Fine Arts Department presents “Chicago” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, in the school’s auditorium, 1235 Mendocino Ave. Santa Rosa.

Admission: $7.50-$15. (707) 547-9000
