Hudson-2

Nationally and internationally recognized sculptor Robert Hudson has lived and worked in Sonoma County for more than three decades, but you rarely get a chance to see his work on display anywhere close to home.

A rare exception was the Sonoma County Museum exhibit of his work five years ago.

Now, the Patricia Sweetow Gallery in San Francisco is giving us another chance, with an exhibition of his work from the past two years, nine sculptures and five drawings, opening with a reception for Hudson from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20.

The show will continue until May 15 at 77 Geary St.  Gallery hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Information: www.patriciasweetowgallery.com, (415) 788-5126.

Hudson’s exhibition at Patricia Sweetow Gallery coincides with the unveiling of a major commission of new
work  by the artist at One Hawthorne, located on the corner of Hawthorne Lane and Howard Streets in San Francisco.

The exterior installation, 145 feet tall by 12 feet wide, is a vertical mural comprised of multiple porcelain
enamel panels, reproducing a series of 30 x 23 inch pen and ink drawings created by Hudson for this
project.

Spanning 16 floors, it is located on the eastern facade of the building and is appropriately titled Landmark. One Hawthorne is new urban residential living in San Francisco.
