Spring may be here at last. Birds are beginning to roost at the Graton Gallery.

“It’s for the Birds,” an exhibit of art with an avian theme, opens today (Tuesday, April 13) and runs through May 23 at the gallery, at 9048 Graton Road in Graton.

The show includes watercolors by Sally Baker, multi-media paintings by Lynda Nugent, crafted gourds by Carla Marie Bratt and needle-felted wool sculptures by Nancy Lorenz (shown above.)

Lorenz, a former Press Democrat graphic artist and a newcomer to the gallery, said she was delighted to get an invitation from Baker to take part in this show.

“I’m really happy about this,” Lorenz said. “I live just up the street from this sweet little gallery, and have wanted to get in there for a long time.”

There will be a reception for the artists from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the Graton Gallery. Regular hours are 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

If you haven’t visited this cozy, lively little gallery in the middle of tiny downtown Graton, you’re in for a nice surprise.
