Mystery No. 12, '818 Cherry St.'

Some of you have written in with useful background information and  historical details for the images in our “Mystery Photo” series.

We also urge you to send us any personal memories or anecdotes connected with these images, for a future Press Democrat feature story.

Meanwhile, Lynn Prime, Sonoma State University’s Digital Projects Librarian, continues to sort through some 850 photos, taken during the ’70s by students in the college’s historical preservation course. Details on many of the photos are incomplete. She has stored about 300 in the digital archives so far.

Today’s entry is Mystery Photo No. 12, “818 Cherry St.” (Carpssu_292):

“This photograph of 818 Cherry St., Santa Rosa, is by David Rome (circa 1974-1976). The image was part of a photographic inventory of Cherry Street area houses, but if anybody has information about the home’s builder or early owners, that would be an excellent addition to our documentation,” Prime said.

You can post your information and comments here, or contact Prime directly at primel@sonoma.edu or (707) 664-4025. And send your stories to dan.taylor@pressdemocrat.com.
